I want to know the difference between "daruriyat" (necessities) and "hajiyat" (needs), along with the evidence.

Necessity is when a person reaches a point where, if they do not consume what is forbidden, they will perish or be close to perishing. As for need, it is the lack of something which, if available to a person, would remove hardship and difficulty from them, but if it is not attained, it would not lead to great harm. The term "necessity" may sometimes be used to mean "need." Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Salih Al-Abdul Latif mentioned conditions for a need that permits what is ordinarily forbidden, including: that the hardship be of an uncommon degree of difficulty, that the criterion for its estimation be based on the average person or the specific group concerned, that the need be specific and that no other way exists, that it be estimated according to its measure, that the ruling based on the need not contradict a legal text or oppose a stronger analogy, that it falls within the objectives of Islamic law, and that it does not lead to the loss of a greater benefit.
