What are the appropriate ways to discuss matters such as engagement in supplications or things that draw one closer to Allah so that He may answer my prayers? And can the reward be of the same nature as the deed, meaning, could my avoidance of these matters be a reason for marrying a girl my heart desires?

You must believe in Allah's divine decree and destiny, and strive in supplicating to Him to grant you a righteous wife. There is no specific supplication for this.

Strive in all types of worship, for by performing acts of worship and avoiding sins, matters become easy and problems are resolved, as Allah Almighty said: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect." and "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him ease in his affair."

Increase your fasting, for it helps curb desires. Strive to do good as much as you can, seeking assistance from Allah Almighty.

As long as you refrain from the unlawful, Allah will grant you chastity by His grace and bounty. And as long as you seek marriage and strive for chastity, Allah Almighty will assist you. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Three are rightfully helped by Allah..." and he mentioned among them: "the one who marries desiring chastity."
