Are involuntary evil thoughts about creed that a person detests, which come to him before, during, or after daily activities, considered apostasy, or are they merely self-talk that does no harm? And must he continue with his work or stop until these thoughts disappear?
Mere heart-felt thoughts are not to be given any weight, especially from one afflicted with whispered evil suggestions (waswas), as long as their owner dislikes them and has not spoken them; due to the hadith: "Indeed, Allah has forgiven my nation for whatever thoughts cross their minds, as long as they do not act upon them or speak about them." And the servant's dislike of these whispered suggestions is proof of the soundness of faith, for in the hadith: "That is clear faith."
