The woman whose husband dies before consummation of the marriage must observe the waiting period (iddah) from the day of his death, even if she was unaware of it. She should complete the remainder of her iddah without sin and observe it in her home. She is entitled to her full dowry and her share of the inheritance (one-quarter if he has no descendants, and one-eighth if he has descendants).
