What is the ruling on using ammonium hydroxide in hair dye or relaxers?

It is permissible to use a substance to dye or straighten hair under certain conditions:

1. It must not be harmful to the hair or skin. This should be confirmed by consulting specialists, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm."

2. The woman must not display her hair in adornment before non-mahram men, and the color must not be used to deceive a suitor.

3. The dye must not be black, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition of it and the severe warning against those who do so.
