What is the ruling on permanently attaching artificial nails after a toenail extraction, and does it affect ablution?

There is no legal impediment to attaching artificial nails for someone who has lost them due to illness or other reasons, as this falls under the category of treatment and medication, which is commanded, and it is not considered altering Allah's creation, which is forbidden. One must be cautious that artificial nails do not cover a part of the finger that natural nails would not cover, for fear of preventing water from reaching the skin. Furthermore, they must be pure and not contradict the characteristics of the fitra.
