Is the marriage of an already married suitor, without a reason, not an injustice to his first wife? Does the questioner have the right to know the reason for his second marriage? Is she sinful for marrying him? Is it a condition that his first wife be informed?

A man marrying a second wife is not an injustice to the first wife. Polygyny has been permitted by Allah the Almighty, who says: "then marry what good seems to you of women, two, and three, and four." Allah does not permit injustice; He has forbidden it for Himself and made it unlawful among His servants. A man is not religiously obligated to inform his first wife or seek her permission for his marriage to a second wife, nor is he obligated to inform the new fiancée about the reason for polygyny. The fiancée commits no sin by accepting him if he is a man of religion and good character. The religious obligation is to be just between wives. The righteous predecessors practiced polygyny and saw no difficulty in it.
