If a married man wishes to marry a second wife, is he obliged to inform the first wife? Is there a sin incurred by not informing her? And is sending the first wife to another country to prevent her from knowing about the second marriage considered a sin?

Islam permits marriage to four wives, provided one can deal justly with them. The first wife's consent is not a condition. If one wife is not sufficient to fulfill a man's needs, he is permitted to marry more. The husband is allowed to send his wife to her home country, and he must be just between her and the other wife. Some scholars are of the opinion that confining oneself to one wife is better to avoid injustice and family dispersion.
