The overarching principle is that working for companies dealing in forbidden things, such as alcohol or cigarette companies, is impermissible. Otherwise, her work will contain a portion of the forbidden commensurate with the percentage of forbidden companies. The prohibition includes participation and assistance in any form, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) "cursed alcohol, its drinker, its pourer, its seller, its buyer, its presser, its extractor, its carrier, and the one to whom it is carried." And if a man assists in disobeying Allah, he is sinful. If the work is associated with something forbidden, and there is another option completely free from the forbidden, then the forbidden work is not permissible.
