Does one who enters the mosque and joins the congregation during the last tashahhud receive the reward of the congregation?

Scholars have differed regarding whether one who catches the last tashahhud (definition) attains the virtue of congregational prayer. Some hold that they do attain the virtue of the congregation, but not to the same extent as one who joined it from the beginning, and this is the more correct opinion (madhhab (definition) saheeh). Others believe that one only attains the congregation by catching the bowing (ruku') of the last rak'ah. This is supported by the hadith (definition): "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the prayer has caught the prayer."
