What is the ruling on praying for a tyrant not to be granted respite, and is this method of supplication permissible?

We do not know of any impediment to supplicating for the hastening of a just punishment for those who deserve it, especially if the intention is to deter oppression, or if the supplicant detests oppression and its perpetrators. Similar supplications have been reported from the Prophets, such as the supplication of Noah (peace be upon him): "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant." And the supplication of Moses (peace be upon him) against Pharaoh and his people: "Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful torment." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated against Quraish when they delayed him, saying: "O Allah, help me against them with seven like the seven of Joseph," and "O Allah, intensify Your grip on Mudar, O Allah, make it years like the years of Joseph."
