What is the ruling on someone who performs 'Umrah with money obtained from selling gold in Saudi Arabia, after buying it in their home country to exploit the price difference to cover the expenses of 'Umrah?

There is no objection to engaging in trade during Hajj or Umrah, for Allah Almighty has permitted pilgrims to trade during the Hajj season, as evidenced by the verse: "There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord" [Al-Baqarah: 198]. It has been reported from the Salaf that this verse was revealed concerning trade during the Hajj season.
