Does a nasal drop invalidate the fast if one cannot breathe without it?

Scholars have differed concerning the ruling on eye drops in the body's orifices if they reach the throat. Some have held that they invalidate the fast, while others have held that they do not invalidate it unless the fasting person swallows what has reached his throat. This is the view preferred by the Islamic Fiqh Academy. The questioner should be aware that if he is unable to rid himself of what has reached his throat or breathe without the medicine, then he may break his fast for treatment and then make up the missed days of fasting.
