What is the ruling on using nasal drops during the daytime in Ramadan?

Nose drops break the fast if they reach the throat, as indicated by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition against exaggerating in sniffing water up the nose for a fasting person. As for eye drops and ear drops, they do not break the fast, but if the fasting person tastes their flavor in his throat, it is safer to make up for that day. A fasting person should not use nose drops unless it is difficult for him to avoid them. In this case, he should be careful not to swallow whatever reaches his throat from them. If he knows that he will inevitably swallow some of it, then he is not permitted to use them unless he reaches a state of illness that permits breaking the fast.
