How can the veneration of the Companions be restored and doubts concerning them be dispelled, after hearing stories that diminish them?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

What you have found within yourself regarding some of the Companions is a result of associating with innovators. Hearts are weak, and specious arguments are snatching. The Salaf warned against sitting with them and disputing with them, lest they corrupt the religion. They said, "Whoever honors an innovator has helped in demolishing Islam."

The way to mend the heart is through repentance, and by turning to the Quran, the Sunnah, and books of biography, which reveal the immense virtue and sacrifices of the Companions, as stated in the noble prophetic Hadith: "Whoever insults my Companions, upon him be the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people."

The innovators' slandering of the Companions is a lie and a fabrication, stemming from fanaticism and malice. It is an attack on the Prophet, peace be upon him, who chose them and intermarried with them, and on Allah the Almighty, who was pleased for them to be the companions of His Prophet and the bearers of His religion.
