Does the household furniture the deceased used with his family become part of his inheritance and distributed among the heirs?
The furniture left by the deceased is considered part of the inheritance and is divided among the heirs according to their prescribed share. Each heir owns their portion of it. It is permissible for the heirs to keep it in common ownership and use it collectively, either through mutual consent or by way of dividing the usufruct. However, for anyone who demands their full right, the furniture is either sold and their share of the price is given to them, or the remaining heirs buy it from them. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that if one of the partners requests the sale of something that cannot be divided, then it is sold and its price is divided, and the one refusing to sell is compelled to do so.
