Is it permissible to curse or revile the Prophet's uncles, Abu Lahab and Abu Talib?

Cursing and reviling a disbeliever is permissible. However, cursing and reviling the two individuals mentioned was not known from the practice of the Pious Predecessors (Salaf), and it may lead to harming the living. Indeed, it has been forbidden to harm the living by reviling the dead, due to the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not harm the living by reviling the dead."
