Peace be upon you. How many wives did the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, marry?

The wives of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, are the Mothers of the Believers, according to the Almighty’s saying: “and his wives are their mothers.” The title ‘Mother of the Believers’ applies to every woman whom the Messenger married and consummated the marriage with, even if he divorced her. However, those whom he divorced before consummation are not given this title. The women whom he married and consummated the marriage with were twelve: Khadijah, Sawdah, Aishah, Hafsah, Zaynab bint Khuzaymah, Umm Salamah, Zaynab bint Jahsh, Juwayriyah, Rayhanah, Umm Habibah, Safiyyah, and Maymunah. The Messenger passed away while he had nine wives: Sawdah, Aishah, Hafsah, Umm Salamah, Zaynab bint Jahsh, Umm Habibah, Juwayriyah, Safiyyah, and Maymunah.
