Is a wife entitled to seek divorce from her husband who is absent from her and their daughter for long periods due to his work, does not fulfill his promise to move and live with them, does not interact with her emotionally, does not care for her, and prefers to distance himself from her when he is at home?

It is recommended to be patient with what one dislikes, for it is good, and Allah Almighty has commanded His servants to be patient and persevere. If the wife's dwelling is independent with its facilities, this fulfills what Islamic law has obligated. However, if she lives with her husband's family and he has not provided her with an independent dwelling, then he is negligent. The wife's service to her husband's family is not obligatory upon her, but rather it is an act of noble character. The husband must treat his wife with kindness, in word and deed, and he must house his wife and child with him. If he does not provide an independent dwelling, the wife is permitted to seek a divorce due to harm, but we advise patience and deliberation in handling matters.
