Is it permissible for me to study Fiqh or Hadith sciences under an Ash'ari?

The Ash'aris are a sect attributed to Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari, who went through three stages: Mu'tazilism, then following Ibn Kullab, then conforming to the Sunnis. The later Ash'aris followed the second stage, adhering to the allegorical interpretation (ta'wil) of attributes and affirming only seven attributes. The Ash'aris are not disbelievers (kuffar), but they erred in interpreting some of the attributes allegorically. A Muslim should study the Islamic sciences with scholars known for the soundness of their creed and avoid innovators and those who deviate from the Sunnis, such as the Ash'aris. Means of learning are available and easy through various channels.
