Paying a bribe to obtain a job is forbidden for the payer, the recipient, and the intermediary between them. An exception to this is paying it to lift an injustice or to obtain a right that cannot be reached except through it; in this case, it is permissible for the giver and forbidden for the recipient. As long as the job is based on an examination, the bribe is forbidden because the right is not determined for you. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the briber and the bribed. If you repent and give charity, there is no harm in remaining in the position, provided you are competent for it.
