What is the ruling on speaking to a young man via chat with respectful words in the Maliki school of thought?

Chatting is a tool. If it is used for good, it is good. If it is used for evil, it is evil and forbidden. Young people have predominantly used it for acquaintanceship and establishing forbidden relationships. Therefore, it is not permissible for a girl to chat with a young man, whether online or elsewhere, unless there is a valid need. Even if the conversation is disciplined and respectful, it is to block the means [to evil], as many relationships began with respectful conversations and then ended in what displeases Allah.
