The answer

Cleaning the ear with a tissue or a stick does not invalidate the fast, according to the consensus of the four madhhabs. However, if the cleaning involves pouring medicine or drops into the ear and it reaches the brain, the majority of jurists and the Shafi'is are of the opinion that this invalidates the fast. Some Shafi'is, however, believe that this does not invalidate the fast, because the ear is not considered an open passage to the brain; rather, whatever is placed in it reaches the brain through pores. If the ear is washed with water or liquid and it reaches the brain, it invalidates the fast according to the Shafi'i .
