The husband's error was his severe beating of the wife; the beating permitted by شرع (Islamic law) is one that is not severe. The reconciliation occurred when the husband took his wife back before the expiry of her (waiting period), and neither the wife nor her guardians have the right to prevent it, because reconciliation does not require the wife's consent or knowledge. The husband is advised to mediate through relatives or religious scholars to bring his wife back to his home and to treat her with kindness and wisdom, taking into consideration the nature of women.
