What was the wisdom behind the Commander of the Faithful, Umar ibn al-Khattab, dismissing Khalid ibn al-Walid from leading the army and appointing Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah in his place in the midst of the Battle of Yarmouk, knowing that Khalid had never been defeated and that the Romans feared him?

Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, removed Khalid ibn al-Walid from leadership of the army for two reasons: fearing that it would be said that he was the maker of victory, and fearing that people would become infatuated with him, because Khalid had not been defeated in any battle. Umar appointed Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah to lead, who is the trustee of this Ummah, and he was successful in his choice. Khalid continued to carry out his duties under the leadership of Abu Ubaydah, who appreciated his status and sought his counsel.
