Can I become one of the righteous after repenting from heinous sins, and will Allah take revenge on me despite my good expectations of Him, and how can I change after growing up accustomed to corruption, and is it permissible for me to reproach my Lord for not guiding me despite my hatred for sins?

For a sincere penitent, it is hoped that Allah will forgive him and transform his evil deeds into good ones. Allah may make him, after repentance, better than he was before, or worse, or the same, depending on his steadfastness after repentance. Allah Almighty has promised those who repent that He will accept their repentance and transform their evil deeds into good ones, as He says: "Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good ones." (Al-Furqan: 70). It is not permissible for a servant to resent Allah; rather, he must have a good opinion of Him and ask Him for guidance. Among the helpful means for this are reciting the Qur’an, frequent supplication, and reading hadiths of encouragement and deterrence, for Allah Almighty says in the Hadith Qudsi: "I am as My servant thinks of Me."
