Is it permissible to marry after slight penetration (without ejaculation) in the anus, knowing that the Ibadi mufti has forbidden it and considered it fornication, while a previous ruling of yours permitted it with sincere repentance? Is it permissible to adopt the ruling of the Sunnis in this case, and will Allah punish those who do not adhere to the ruling of the madhhab?

When disputes arise, judgment must be sought from the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and there is no text in Sharia that obligates following a scholar or jurist in everything he says. Sincere repentance obliterates what came before it, and there is nothing in the Qur'an and Sunnah that prevents an adulterer from marrying the woman with whom he committed adultery after their repentance. Commentators have differed in interpreting the verse: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or an idolatress." The soundest of these interpretations is that it does not refer to lawful marriage, but rather to sexual intercourse, meaning that no one would willingly commit adultery with him except an adulteress or an idolatress. Therefore, if the repentance is sound and sincere, there is no impediment to the adulterer marrying the woman with whom he committed adultery.
