Is lameness considered an affliction from God, and does it alleviate the reckoning on the Day of Judgment?

Everything that afflicts a Muslim in this world—be it toil, illness, worry, sorrow, harm, or grief, even a thorn that pricks him—God expiates his sins thereby. All of this serves as expiation for his sins if he meets it with patience and seeks reward from Allah the Almighty, for Allah Almighty says: "And give good tidings to the patient, Who, when affliction strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided."
