What should I do about marital problems that escalated after the husband hit his wife in front of his family, which led to the wife taking sedatives, knowing that they have three children?

It is not permissible for a husband to beat his wife without a valid reason, and this is a grave sin that some scholars equate with major sins, especially if the beating occurs in front of people, due to the humiliation and degradation it entails, and its contradiction to the Almighty’s saying: "And live with them in kindness." The husband must adhere to wisdom and justice between his wife and her family. It is advisable to forgive the husband if it is the first time, and to confront him to resolve problems, remembering the saying of Abu Darda, may God be pleased with him, to Umm Darda: "If you are angry, appease me, and if I am angry, I will appease you, for if it is not so, how quickly we will separate." And to frequently remember God and repent.
