If the disbelieving woman embraces Islam before her husband, he is prevented from enjoying her, and he is commanded to embrace Islam. If he accepts, their marriage is affirmed as long as she is within her waiting period ('iddah). If he refuses until her 'iddah expires, she becomes irrevocably separated from him. As for her relationship with her children, it remains intact, and any of them who are young are ruled to be Muslims, following her.
