Is expiation obligatory for one who slapped and screamed upon the death of her father, without clearly remembering those actions?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If forbidden acts are committed without awareness, there is no sin upon the doer, because a person is not held accountable for what they do while their mind is overwhelmed. However, if they are committed with awareness and consciousness, then repentance and seeking forgiveness are obligatory. Repentance involves abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. The believer should be patient in times of affliction, and their perfection is achieved at the very beginning of its occurrence, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Patience is at the first stroke of a calamity."
