How can one find patience and hope in this world when prayers are not answered, and one fears feeling disappointment and despair?
"Having good thoughts about Allah is an act of obedience, while having bad thoughts about Him is a characteristic of polytheists and hypocrites. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against being hasty in having prayers answered. There is no necessary correlation between the prayer being answered and the request being fulfilled, for Allah may answer prayers in three ways: by expediting the answer, by saving it for the Hereafter, or by averting an equivalent evil. One must be content with Allah's decree, as a person may pray for something they believe to be good, while it is actually bad for them. One must beware of pessimism, despair, and despondency; for these are characteristics of disbelievers."
