Are we obliged to follow specific Madhhabs (schools of thought), and are we compelled to follow the Maliki Madhhab in the Kingdom of Morocco?

A Muslim is not obliged to follow a specific madhhab (school of thought), but a common person must emulate the people of knowledge, as Allah the Almighty says: "So ask the people of the message if you do not know" (Quran 16:43), and as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Why did they not ask if they did not know? Indeed, the cure for ignorance is asking." He is not obliged to emulate a specific scholar or madhhab; rather, he may ask whoever he trusts regarding their knowledge and piety, and act upon their fatwa (religious ruling).
