A traveler is permitted to break their fast if they have commenced their journey and passed beyond the houses of their town. There is no blame upon them if they break their fast and pray the obligatory prayer (combining and shortening it), and then decide to return; their prayer is valid, and they are not required to repeat it. It is not obligatory for them to refrain from eating for the remainder of that day, according to the more preponderant opinion. However, if they were to repeat their prayer as a precaution and refrain from eating for the rest of the day, that would be more meritorious.
