What is the ruling on healing with the Beautiful Names of Allah and believing that each illness has a Name that cures it?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Supplication is divided into two types: supplication of worship and praise, and supplication of request and plea. The reality of the supplication of request is that a person asks their Lord for that which benefits them or removes harm from them. If a person supplicates to their Lord by His Beautiful Names for healing or for the removal of any ailment, a supplication that fulfills the conditions and is free from impediments, then Allah Almighty will respond and remove what afflicts them.

Regarding the notion that every illness has a specific name that cures it, this is incorrect. Rather, one should ask Allah for every need using the Names that are appropriate for it, such as: "O Forgiving One, forgive me," "O Most Merciful, have mercy on me," "O Healer, heal me," and so on. If one supplicates by Allah's Greatest Name, everything can be sought through it, as it encompasses the meaning of every Name.
