What is the virtue of reciting the Noble Qur’an at night while people are asleep?
The Quran intercedes for its reciter on the Day of Resurrection, especially for those who recited it at night and preferred it over sleep, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Fasting and the Quran will intercede for a servant on the Day of Resurrection..." And because the Quran will say: "I prevented him from sleep at night, so intercede for him."
Also, reciting the Quran at night is one of the great blessings for which a believer is envied, and it is a salvation from heedlessness. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever recites ten verses at night will not be recorded among the heedless," and "Whoever recites one hundred verses at night will be recorded among the devout." Allah described the pious by saying: (They used to sleep but little of the night, And in the hours before dawn they would ask for forgiveness).
