What should I do after I lied to someone about a specific need out of fear of envy?

Whoever lies without a valid need for lying must repent and seek forgiveness, for lying is forbidden. It was the most detested of all character traits to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Truthfulness leads to righteousness and enters Paradise, while lying leads to wickedness and enters Hellfire. And whoever persists in lying will be recorded as a liar with Allah. This encourages truthfulness and warns against lying.
