Is it a condition that the slaughter and eating of the 'Aqiqah take place on the seventh day, or is it permissible to slaughter on that day and delay eating, or to slaughter before it and eat on the seventh day? And is it permissible for only the family to eat from it, or is it obligatory to give a portion to the poor?

The aqiqah is recommended according to the majority of scholars, and it is best to perform it on the seventh day. It is not a condition to eat from it on the same day; rather, it is permissible to slaughter it before the seventh day in order to eat from it on that day or for another purpose, and it is permissible to delay it until the fourteenth day. Also, it is permissible for the family of the newborn to eat all of the aqiqah, though it is better to combine eating with giving charity.
