O my Shaykh, is it permissible for a father to be angry without reason all the time?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Anger is from Satan, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it. Therefore, a Muslim must avoid its causes. If he becomes angry, he must follow what the Prophet prescribed to dispel anger, including: remembering the virtue of suppressing rage and forgiving people, seeking refuge with Allah from Satan, changing his posture (if standing, he should sit; if sitting, he should lie down), performing ablution (wudu'), and contemplating the ugliness of an angry person's appearance. Children should bear with their angry father, treat him kindly, and avoid causes of his anger such as arguments, disputes, quarrels, and raising voices. Rather, the father should be advised and reminded in a gentle and soft manner.
