Who is Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib?

Hamzah ibn Abd al-Muttalib al-Qurashi al-Hashimi, the paternal uncle of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his foster brother. He embraced Islam in the second year of the prophethood, and he steadfastly supported the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and emigrated with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entrusted him with the first banner (of command) in Islam. He was martyred on the Day of Uhud, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) described him as the master of martyrs.
