Is a wife allowed to cut or dye her hair without her husband's permission?

A woman is not permitted to cut her hair except within the framework of the Sharia's guidelines. If these guidelines permit cutting and the woman knows her husband's approval, then there is no objection. However, if he forbids her, or she knows his disapproval, then it is not permissible, because obedience to the husband is obligatory unless it involves disobedience to Allah. This ruling also applies to dyeing hair, unless it is with black dye, in which case the preponderant opinion is that it is forbidden.
