Is it permissible for family members, including the grandmother who owns real estate and money, and the mother who suffers from her husband's shortcomings, to take zakat money that has been given to them for years, knowing that some of them have become wealthy?

The recipients and categories for Zakat are specified in the Holy Quran across eight categories: the poor, the needy, those employed to collect it, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, for freeing captives, those in debt, in the cause of Allah, and the wayfarer. If someone is poor but their maintenance is obligatory upon another (like a wife or a mother), and the provider is affluent and expends the maintenance, then the poor person is not entitled to Zakat due to their poverty.
