What is the reason for the burdensome nature of performing prayers for most Muslims today?

Prayer is a great pillar of Islam, and it is the first thing a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment. Underestimating its performance is due to multiple reasons, including: considering it a burden and a hardship, its obligation five times a day, prioritizing worldly desires and pleasures over it, preoccupation with worldly matters, giving precedence to false hopes in Allah’s mercy over fear of Him, weak faith, and bad company that discourages obedience.
