What should one do who swore in anger that his mother would not ride in the car with him for a month, and then regretted it and wishes to repent?

If someone swears an oath that leads to sin, breaking ties, or corruption, it is forbidden for him to fulfill this oath. He must break it and offer expiation. This expiation consists of feeding ten needy people, clothing them, or freeing a slave. If one cannot find any of these, then he must fast for three days. This is based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "By Allah, if Allah wills, I shall not swear an oath and then see something better than it, but I will expiate for my oath and do that which is better." Therefore, you must expiate for your oath and have your mother ride with you in the car. Know that Paradise lies in adhering to your mother's feet through care, attention, and excellent treatment.
