What are the boundaries of the حرم Makkah (Sacred Precinct of Mecca)? Is all of Mecca considered حرم?

The boundaries of the Meccan sanctuary (Al-Haram Al-Makki) are well-known and marked by established signs from all directions. The distances vary in miles for each direction: from the direction of Medina, it is three miles at Al-Tan'im (Aisha Mosque); from the direction of Yemen, seven miles at Adhat Laban; from the direction of Jeddah, ten miles at Munqata' Al-A'shash; from the direction of Al-Ji'ranah, nine miles; from the direction of Iraq, seven miles; and from the direction of Taif, seven miles at Arafat. One mile is equivalent to 1848 meters. Whatever falls within these markers is part of the sanctuary of Mecca and has its specific religious rulings, and whatever falls outside them is not part of the sanctuary.
