What is the ruling on using a siwak during the daytime in Ramadan, and is it permissible to swallow the saliva from the siwak?

Using a miswak is recommended for a fasting person at all times, in the early part of the day and its latter part, and it is not exclusive to the fasting person over others. Swallowing saliva after using the miswak is permissible, unless something from the miswak dissolves in the mouth, in which case it should be expelled before swallowing the saliva. This is the view held by many scholars. As for a wet miswak, it has no effect that would invalidate the fast.
