What is meant by “understand him in the religion” in the famous Hadith: Is it a general understanding of religion, or is it jurisprudence specifically, and does it include only the student of Sharia knowledge or also one who possesses a basic understanding of religion?

Fiqh (understanding) in religion is comprehending the rulings of (Islamic law) with their proofs, and the meanings of commands and prohibitions, and acting upon them. This instills khashya (reverential fear) and muraqabah (awareness) of Allah Almighty. It is a sign that Allah intends good for His servant, and whoever does not attain fiqh in religion, Allah has not intended good for him.
