Is it permissible for a Muslim to make his beard a very thin line from top to bottom, especially if he does not have thick hair in his beard?

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that growing the beard and not shaving it is obligatory. However, they differed on the extent of growing it, with some permitting the trimming of whatever exceeds a fistful. The authentic hadiths command the growing, lengthening, and maintaining of the beard, and what was done contradicts this. Therefore, one must repent, seek forgiveness, and not return to such an action.
