Does watching TV series all year long and then stopping during Ramadan to dedicate oneself to worship, only to resume watching them after Ramadan, make one an "Abd Ramadan" (worshipper of Ramadan), and is this forbidden?
Fatwas have been issued prohibiting the viewing of TV series due to their often containing objectionable content. Your refraining from watching them during Ramadan is a good thing, but it does not permit watching them afterwards, because what Allah has forbidden of objectionable acts is forbidden during Ramadan and at other times. Returning to objectionable acts after Ramadan is an indication that the fast did not achieve the desired goal of piety, as stated in the Almighty's words: {O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous} (Quran 2:183). Returning to sins after Ramadan is not permissible, and it is not said of one who returns to them that he was worshipping Ramadan.
