The answer

It is forbidden for one who is observing an obligatory fast to break it except for a legitimate Shar'i (Islamic legal) excuse, and he must complete it. If he breaks it, he must make up that day. However, if his fast is a supererogatory (nafl) make-up fast, then he is not obliged to complete it.
